LYNX! Consortium Assessment Project
The LYNX! Consortium is comprised of nine public libraries in Southeast Idaho run through the City of Boise/Boise Public Library. LYNX! engaged CDygert Solutions to perform a 360° analysis of the consortium, including their governance and infrastructure, membership cost-share formula, the locally run courier service, and the potential for developing a shared digital resources program. CDygert Solutions gathered data through interviews with library directors, Boise Public Library Staff, LYNX! standing committees, individual key staff, and the Executive Directors of several peer consortia. A survey was conducted to allow staff throughout the consortium to anonymously provide input. CDygert Solutions reviewed multiple data sources, including LYNX! financial reports, the Agreement for LYNX! Consortium Services, the LYNX! Strategic Plan, meeting records, and multiple other documents to fully understand the environment in which LYNX! operates. CDygert Solutions collaborated with Boise Public Library staff to lead a Holdings and PAC Display summits with consortium staff midway through the project to delve deeply into issues identified through the data gathering process, and foster collaborative problem solving. The outcome of the project was a comprehensive assessment package that included recommendations and specific actions that LYNX! might take to reimagine the consortium for the future to ensure sustainability, room for growth, and equity for all members. A detailed timeline for implementation was provided.
